How to clean your toys

You may believe that all you need to do is soak your sex toys in soap and water. Please refrain from doing so unless the material is completely non-porous, such as metal or glass. Finding out what kind of material a sex toy is made of is the first step in cleaning it. The majority of sex toys fall into one of two general categories: porous or nonporous materials.

Porous materials have microscopic holes, or pores, that can be home to fungi and bacteria. What materials go into making it? The best is body-safe, which can include anything from stainless steel to glass to silicone that is medical-grade.

Non-pourous material: Use a gentle soap without any harsh ingredients. Whatever soap you're using, make sure it doesn't have any fragrances because they can upset your vulva's pH balance and irritate your vagina. Another excellent choice are UV lights or toy cleaners.

Porous material: It might not be entirely clean, but you can try washing it with some mild soap and water. We advise using a condom when using this type of toy with a partner to ensure that no bacteria or STIs are shared. There are a lot of body-safe and antibacterial toy cleaners available that can effectively sanitize your toy. These can also be illuminated by UV lights.

Splashproof material: Avoid submerging a non-waterproof toy directly in water, especially if it is motorized or vibrates. Simply wash a cloth with a small amount of water and mild soap, then pat dry with a paper towel.

When you first buy a toy, make sure to clean it before using it.Always make sure your toys are completely dry, even if you are just using them on yourself. This is especially important if the toy is made of silicone or isn't waterproof, as the water can damage the material.

Storage: To ensure that your toys are not in an area where bacteria could grow on them, you can keep them in a toy bag. Just make sure it's hidden in a box or bag of some kind if you don't want to go to this extent. Avoid having your sex toys simply roll around in your bedside drawer because this can lead to dust, lint, and other debris getting trapped inside. Cleaning a toy before using it is a terrible way to ruin your mood.
